Residents enjoy the merits of on-site recycling
A further typical RUBBLE MASTER solution was invented by our Californian dealer, Elms Equipment Rental, Inc., in May 2004 for the preparation of an estate lot at the Big Horn Golf Resort overlooking Palm Springs / California: By means of contracting work, using the powerful compact impact crusher RM80, 5,000 short tons of mountain were processed on-site to a cubic grain with optimum compactness. Two excavators, one with a hydraulic hammer, broke down the stone into 24” minus material, which was then crushed by the RM80 into 1.5” grain in a single pass – in only 21 working hours.
The material had to meet California’s strict building codes for a seismic five zone, which was approved by an on-site soils engineer, so it could be placed directly on the site in 8” lifts and compacted to 95% maximum dry density. With this concept the contractor dealt with a massive problem, as there were only 2 transports necessary instead of 200 doing it the usual way. This was a big advantage facing limited access times, as the houses on the lower sites had already been occupied and the new owners did not want the truck traffic. Besides, the Big Horn Golf Resort is also a community where most local travel is via golf cart. This is why they have the right of way - and trucks must stop and wait.
Processing approximately 225 t/h the RUBBLE MASTER® Compact Recycler RM80 crushed the natural stone without any interruption, despite space limitations. As the use of the powerful impact crusher saved $ 6.00 per ton fees to dump the material as well as $ 14 per ton of suitable import material – in this case a special material approved for seismic five zones – the contractor realized an overall saving of $ 110,000 – and committed the RM80 to complete 3 other home sites – with a smile.
